Exploration of Fusing Glass to Create a One-of-a-Kind Suncatcher

Introduction to Fused Glass (20 minutes):

• -            Overview of the history and art of glass fusing.
• -            Introduction to materials: different types of glass, tools, and kiln basics.
• -            Safety guidelines and best practices.

Design and Preparation (20 minutes):

• -            Basics of glass cutting - how to score and break glass safely.
• -            Techniques for layering glass and creating designs.
• -            Demonstrate basic fusing techniques (tack fusing, full fusing).

Creating Your Piece (1 hour):

• -            Students design and assemble glass to create a one-of-a-kind suncatcher
• -            Guidance on different ideas and concepts

Fusing Process and Kiln Loading (20 minutes):

• -            Explanation of the firing process and kiln schedules.
• -            Students load their pieces into the kiln (firing takes a full day)

Pieces will be available for pick up within a week.
