Glass Paint Comparison

Glass Paint Comparison

Finding the right glass paint can make all the difference when creating vibrant, long-lasting designs. We tested Pebeo Vitrea 150 and 160, Martha Stewart Glass Paints, and Liquitex Glossies Enamels to compare their features and performance. Here's what we found:

Pebeo Vitrea 160: These thermo-hardening, water-based paints are designed for glass and offer brilliant transparent colors in glossy and frosted finishes. They are durable, dishwasher safe and ideal for wine glasses, vases, and even large surfaces like windows.

Martha Stewart Glass Paints: Known for their versatility, these paints are available in 120 colors across seven finishes, including frost, metallic, and glitter. They are tack-free, dishwasher-safe, and suitable for indoor and outdoor use. You can use brushes, stencils, or even their fine-tip applicator for detailed work.

Liquitex Glossies: These water-based acrylic enamels adhere to non-porous surfaces like glass, tiles, ceramics, and more. They offer both opaque and transparent options, making them great for a variety of projects.

Performance Highlights:
  • Transparency: For a stained-glass effect, go with Pebeo Vitrea or the transparent options from Martha Stewart and Liquitex.
  • Durability: Baking your painted pieces makes them more resilient. Pebeo Vitrea 160, when baked, offers the best durability for items like drinkware.
  • Ease of Use: All three brands allow for versatile application with brushes, sponges, or markers. Pebeo’s paint markers are particularly beginner-friendly.

What We Recommend:
While all three brands perform well, we love Martha Stewart Glass Paints for their versatility and range. However, we prefer Pebeo Vitrea 160 and for detailed work like outlining designs, we prefer Pebeo Vitrea 150 liners.

Glass painting can be a fun and rewarding way to create custom gifts or unique decor. Pick up some glass paints today and give it a try!
